    Multi-space boards

A multi-space board pulls work items from multiple Jira spaces onto a single board. Cross-functional teams can see their Scrum space, service desk, and product backlog side by side without switching between spaces.

By default, a board shows work items from one Jira space. Multi-space mode lets you add more spaces to the same board. Work items from all configured spaces appear together, organized by your chosen column grouping.

A typical use case: a platform team that owns a Scrum space (PLAT) for engineering work and a JSM space (PLAT-SD) for incident tracking. A multi-space board combines both, giving the team lead a single view across all work.

    1. In the toolbar, click the space icon next to the board name and privacy icon
    2. Search for and select the Jira space to add
    3. Once added, map the space’s field options to your columns — see Columns & Grouping for details

You can add as many spaces as needed. There is no enforced limit, though boards with many spaces and thousands of work items may load more slowly.

All spaces share the board’s column names and order. You choose which values from each space belong in each column, so different workflows can fit the same board layout.

Each space can use a different column field, such as Status in one space and Priority in another. You are not limited to fields that exist in every space.

Configure each space’s field and mappings in the same column editor:

    1. In Display, select the column count next to Columns.
    2. Choose a Column field under each space’s name.
    3. Drag or select that space’s values into the shared columns. Space icons help distinguish values from different spaces.
    4. Return to the board and select Save in the toolbar.

This means “In Progress” in your Scrum space and “Work in progress” in your JSM space can both map to the same “In progress” column.

Changing one space’s column field clears only its mappings, keeping the columns and other spaces’ mappings in place. Labels share their mappings across all spaces using Labels as their column field. See Columns and grouping for adding, naming, and ordering columns.

    1. Click the space icon in the toolbar to open the space selector
    2. Deselect the space you want to remove

The space’s work items disappear from the board immediately. Nothing is deleted from Jira.
