# Group a Jira board by assignee, priority, or any field

BetterBoard does not hard-wire columns to status. Choose what the board groups by and change it whenever the work calls for a different view.

## How to group a board by a field

### Open grouping

Open the board's grouping setting.

### Choose a field

Choose a field such as Status, Assignee, Priority, Sprint, Labels, or a single-select custom field.

### Change the view

BetterBoard re-lays out the board immediately. Change the grouping again when you need a different view.

> **Tip:** Grouping is a live view setting, so people can group the same board for their current task without changing the board for everyone else.
